Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, and on a barrier island the ground-floor units and beachside garages are what take on water first. A washer or dryer that has stood in salt water is usually beyond saving, and salt water is far harder on a machine than rain. Weekday mornings, and why we push for them

A1A near the pier at the weekend is not a road so much as a queue. A truck that cannot park near the building turns a twenty-minute job into an hour, and that hour comes out of somebody else’s stop. Early weekday slots are dramatically easier, and if you are coordinating a rental changeover you probably want the appliance gone before the next guests arrive anyway.
